Smiles. Details. Anticipation.

An endless sea of beautiful face, colors and languages on the gym "porch:"

Staff . . . taking care of the details.

All smiles as we get ready for Camp!

Departing Soon!

The buzzzzz before they start the journey . . .

Camp Allelu: Time to go!

Any moment now, 60-some campers will depart Westover for Camp Allelu! The morning camper pick-up went better than expected - with most students waiting on their front steps, bags packed and READY-TO-GO! Some had been on their porches waiting since 8 AM and pick up didn't start until 9 AM! There was one exception. Around 12:25 PM we realized one student in High Point had not been picked up, so our faithful and patient staff went back to get him. So much for a smooth start! Glitches happen, so when I departed the group was still finishing their Chic-fil-a lunches, waiting patiently, smiling and having fun.
Wouldn't it be great if we all held the same excitement, anticipation and patience as we faced the unknown? Many of these students have already faced journeys unlike any we could every think about facing in our lifetime, much less as children and teens. Pray that beginning now, their journey and hearts will be lightened through the love of Christ by the camp staff, the words they hear, Pastor Mark Watkins speaking each evening, the relationships that are formed, and through being in the presence of HIM.

A Sea of Orange Servants

No - it's not a UT game - it's the first day of Camp Allelu!

If you're out and about in Greensboro / High Point today and you notice any young, beautiful folks in orange Camp Allelu t-shirts - that's our staff! This morning, beginning around 9am, they will be picking up our 68 campers and bringing them to Westover to prepare for their adventure. Pray for safety. Pray that all students will be ready and excited to go! Pray that our staff would have courage, tender hearts and endurance for the race they face over the next 5 days. I'll bring you more info as I receive it fellow prayer warriors and hope to update later today with pictures from push off at Westover around noon!

Camp Allelu . . . 2 days and counting!

The heat is on . . . Camp Allelu departs in less than 48 hours! Are you ready? Are you prayed up? Are you packed? Sixty-eight international high school students and 36 staff/volunteers will set out Wednesday morning for the adventure of a lifetime - the inaugural, first ever, one-of-a-kind-Camp Allelu. Buses are set to depart Westover Church at noon on June 30 and return on Sunday, July 4. Check back here for camp updates as they are received - or at least for a run down after the fact.
Many thanks and prayers go out to the 52 families and individuals who sponsored campers. Without them, Camp Allelu would not have been possible.
